To help give you a better idea of who Jordan is, below are some of the most frequently asked questions.
How long have you been a professional photographer?
I studied photography at university and turned professional during this time. I was offered a position as a photographer with a surf travel company, and jumped at the opportunity. Obviously, I had work published prior to this, but it was never enough to be solely a professional photographer.
Who have you photographed for since turning professional?
Lots of people. I have shot for large international companies such as Rip Curl, Fat Face and IronMan, but have also carried out photo assignment work for small businesses and magazines in my home town.
Have you always photographed within the sports and lifestyle industry?
Short answer... Yes. I started shooting surf photography back in 2003, and became completely addicted. I loved it. I was always at the beach. Come rain or shine, I would photograph from sunrise to sunset. This meant that I missed a lot of my lectures at university - But I believe the best way to learn, is to get out there and do it.
What was your most memorable photo assignment?
This is an easy one. I was shooting at the IronMan Triathlon in Nice, France. It was during a heat wave and temperatures maxed out at 40 degrees. It was so hot, and I had to shoot from 6am - 6pm. Needless to say, I was very sun burnt after.
What inspires you to get out there and capture images?
Lots of things. Adverts in magazines, commercials on television, seeing other photographers work - But most of all just loving the outdoors and how it makes me feel. I always try to capture within my images the atmosphere and emotion that existed during the photoshoot.
What else are you into besides photography?
I'm an outdoor enthusiast. I love cycling, walking, camping and just getting out there in the open air. Besides photography, there is nothing I love doing more than getting out on my bike for hours at a time. Pedaling hard, climbing big hills (or mountains when I'm abroad) and pushing my limits. It's surprising how many photo shoot ideas have started life from the saddle of my bike.
